Deleting, restoring, and retaining data
How deletion behaves per object type, and what to check before running it
Updated 2026.08.24
This page explains what happens to data you delete.
Treat deletion as an operation that cannot be undone. There is currently no screen for restoring deleted data from a list. Related data is handled differently per object, so check before you act.
Deletion behavior by object
| Object | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Company | Before deleting, choose how linked data is handled (unlink / migrate) |
| Chats and messages | Deletion cannot be undone |
| Contact | Related notes and tasks are deleted too |
| Connected account | Emails and calendar events are permanently deleted |
Choose what happens to related data
When deleting a company or contact, you choose how to handle linked data.
- Detach / unlink — keep the data, remove only the association
- Migrate — reassign it to another company or contact
If you choose migrate, a destination is required. When related data exists, you cannot delete without making a choice.
Recording retention
| Plan | Retention of recordings and related data |
|---|---|
| Free | 30 days |
| Standard | 180 days |
| Business | 365 days |
| Enterprise | 365 days |
Data past its retention period is deleted automatically. For recordings you want to keep longer, copy what matters into a record's notes before the period ends.
Retention is determined by the meeting owner's plan. It is not per workspace, so meetings in the same workspace can expire at different times.
See Plans and billing for details.
