Using the AI chat
The basics — asking questions, drafting, voice input, and file attachments
Updated 2026.08.24
This page covers the basics of the AI chat, opened from Chat in the left navigation.
The chat answers with your workspace's data in mind. It can reference companies, contacts, deals, and meetings — so a question like "what was decided in last week's sales call?" just works.
The basic flow
- Open Chat in the left navigation, or create a New chat.
- Type your question and send it.
- Review the answer. If generation runs long, stop it with Stop generating.
Copy answers with Copy answer.

To the left of the input box you'll see Agent (the mode), and to the right the model in use. Click the model name to open the list and switch. Models for higher plans carry a lock icon, and picking one shows an upgrade prompt.
For what the modes mean, see Ask mode and Agent mode.
Ways to input
| Method | Description |
|---|---|
| Text | Regular typing |
| Voice input | Converts what you say into text |
| File attachment | Ask with a file attached |
Voice input lets you choose the language: auto-detect, or Japanese, English, Korean, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), Spanish, French, German.
Point it at something specific
To ask about a particular company or deal, specify the target with a mention. The answer then takes that information into account. See Referencing information with mentions.
Edit a sent message
You can edit questions you've already sent. Editing and resending saves it as a new chat, and the original reply stays. Change how you ask without losing the exchange.
While editing, Cmd/Ctrl + Enter saves and Esc cancels.
Keeping chats organized
- Add to Favorites to open them quickly from the left navigation
- Titles can be renamed later
- Delete chats you no longer need. Deletion cannot be undone
When you want to change data
Beyond answering questions, you can ask it to create or update tasks and records. For that, switch to Agent mode. Requested operations don't run immediately — they take effect only after approval.
How this differs from the help center AI
The AI assistant at the bottom right of this page answers product questions from the published help articles. It does not reference your own deal data.
For questions that involve your account's data, use the in-product chat.
