Referencing information with mentions
Bringing companies, contacts, deals, and more into the AI chat's context
Updated 2026.08.13
This page covers mentions — how you point the AI chat at existing data.
Mentions do two jobs. One is handing over context: "answer about this company". The other, in Agent mode, is pinning down "which one to update".
What you can mention
| Type | Used for |
|---|---|
| Companies | Referencing a customer company's information |
| Contacts | Referencing a contact's information; also picks the recipient for email drafts |
| Deals | Referencing where a deal stands |
| Meetings | Referencing a meeting's recording and minutes |
| Referencing correspondence | |
| Tasks / Notes | Pinning down what to update or delete |
| Workspace members | Specifying an internal member |
| Actions | Inserting an operation template |
How to use them
- Start a mention in the input box and a list of candidates appears.
- Narrow by type, or just search and pick the target. If there are many candidates, Show more loads more.
- Picking one inserts it into the input box, and its content becomes part of what the AI references.
While the candidate list is open, Enter selects a candidate — it doesn't send. Finish picking, then send.
Priority context
When several things could be referenced, whatever you mark as priority context wins. Use it in a long conversation to pin down "right now we're talking about this deal".
Required for updates and deletes
When changing existing data in Agent mode, a mention is required. Without one, no proposal is created and you'll see errors like:
- "Select the target task with `@task:` before sending"
- "Select the target contact with `@contact:` before sending"
This is by design — it stops the AI from mistaking the target and rewriting the wrong data.
