Recording and transcribing meetings
From calling the bot to stopping the recording — what each state means
Updated 2026.08.25
This page covers the recording controls. For auto-join settings, see Meeting bot settings.
Start recording on the spot
If you don't want to wait for auto-join, use Call now to summon the bot into the meeting.
For the steps to call it from an active Google Meet with the Chrome extension, see Call the Aitane bot during a Google Meet.
To finish, run Stop recording. The bot leaves automatically when the meeting ends.
When recording won't start
| Message | Cause and fix |
|---|---|
| Meeting URL not found | The event has no join URL |
| This meeting is already being recorded | Duplicate call. Check the existing recording |
| No preferred workspace selected | Choose your workspace via Open settings |
After the recording
Once recording finishes, you can generate the script and minutes. View minutes takes you to the detail screen.
Delete a recording
You can delete recordings you don't need. Choose Delete recording in the confirmation dialog to run it.
Plans and retention
Recording, scripts, and minutes are available on every plan. What changes with your plan is retention.
| Plan | Retention of recordings and related data |
|---|---|
| Free | 30 days |
| Standard | 180 days |
| Business | 365 days |
| Enterprise | 365 days |
Recordings past their retention period are deleted automatically. Copy anything you want to keep into a record's notes before the period ends.
Retention is determined by each member's plan. Depending on which plan the meeting owner is on, recordings in the same workspace can expire at different times.
